The Sorcerer's Apprentice is an upcoming 2010  fantasy  adventure  comedy film produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, directed by Jon Turteltaub, stars Nicolas Cage, and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures, who are behind the National Treasure franchise. It is a live-action re-imagining of the Mickey Mouse Sorcerer's Apprentice segment in Disney's Fantasia,  which in turn is based on the late 1890s symphonic poem by Paul Dukas and 1797 Johann Wolfgang von Goethe ballad.

The film was originally set to be released on July 16, 2010, but has been moved up to July 14, 2010.

Balthazar Blake, played Nicolas Cage, is a master sorcerer in modern-day Manhattan trying to defend the city from his arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath, played by Alfred Molina. Balthazar can't do it alone, so he recruits Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel), a seemingly average guy who demonstrates hidden potential, as his reluctant student. The sorcerer gives his unwilling accomplice a crash course in the art and science of magic, these unlikely partners work to stop the forces of darkness. Dave must muster his strength to survive his training, save the city and get the girl as he becomes The Sorcerer's Apprentice.
